April 13, 2005Warning: Long Post
Greetings! Okay I have been putting it off for a
long time but here are me views on God of War and
Sin City, plus the new PSP!
First up is GoW. From the moment I started the game
I had a good vibe. The controls were very intuitive
and easy to use. Performing combos were both easy
and gratifying to watch. Having the ability to dodge
with a twitch of the right analog stick was extremely
necessary in a lot of the games tighter situations.
The gameplay goes right along with the controls. It
was challenging but gratifying to play. I never got
tired of seeing the fatalities for each of the
different monsters. As you powered up your weapons
you obtained new powers and combos which was not
particularly new. I personally would have like to
have seen a few more weapons and powers, but you
would have had to power them all up as well. The
storyline was very well done. I will not go into
much detail. I do not want to ruin it if you have
not played it yet. The story flowed like a good
movie and kept you playing to see what was going to
happen next. The graphics made the story that much
greater. GoW had some of the best graphics I have
seen. From the backgrounds to the characters the
detail was extremely well done. I would just play
the game for the visuals. The textures of the
backgrounds and the characters were very intricate.
You could see pores, scars, and even beads of sweat
during the cutscenes. The in game visuals were still
well done and pleasing. The soundtrack was another
great part of this game. Full orchestrations were
reminiscent of such films as Gladiator. The music
was just that good. It put you right into the feel
of the game. The only aspect I had any problems
with is the length of the game. It can be beat on
normal in about 10 hours or so. There are harder
modes to play, but the game really does not change
a whole lot. You can not even go back through with
powered up weapons which I did not like. There are
lots of unlockables and the production videos are
very interesting. I thought this was on of my
favorite games for the PS2. A 9/10 from me.
Now to Sin City. I have not read any of Frank
Miller's work. But this movie got me interested in
picking up a few of his stories. From a movie goers
standpoint the movie was all about visuals. The way
the scenes were shot and the imagery were all well
done. I enjoyed the stories they had in the movie.
I think all the actors did a very good job in the
film. If this film had been in color it would have
gotten an NC-17 rating due to the amount of
violence in the movie. And believe me this is a
violent movie. There was plenty of action with
substance to back it up. Overall, I give it a 8/10.
Finally to the PSP. I just picked up a PSP last
night and have been playing around with it. The
screen is amazing. It looks like a mini plasma. The
technology behind it boggles the mind. The sound is
pretty good, but if you are in a noisy environment
you really need to use the headphones. I picked up
Untold Legens. The closest thing to an RPG out
right now. The graphics are extremely cool for a
hand held system. When I discover more I will post
it. Also I picked up a Wacom tablet and have been
playing around with it. So far it is pretty neat
just have to get used to it.
Long post. Enjoy the strip!

April 13, 2005What Really Went Down
I know you may have thought that Burk took a dive for
Leena at the end of the last story line, but nuh-uh.
Real gamers aren't like that. It's win at all costs
as displayed in this strip, well maybe not all the
time.
For those of you interested in a WoW update, I have
two more levels to go before I can get my mount.
However, I don't have nearly enough money, so for
those of you that witness or hear about an undead
mage begging and dancing for quarters, please donate.
I'm gonna try and check out Jade Empire this week.
It's from the creators of KOTOR and KOTOR 2 so I
should like it. By the way, has anyone out there
played The Matrix Online? If so drop me a line and
tell me how it is, I haven't found any reviews for it
and I'd hate to shell out money for a game based on
some of the worst movies.
