I Told You I'd Get Around To It
First off, I really enjoyed God of War. I thought
the combat system was along the lines of Ninja
Gaiden, but without playing the game of "How hard
can I throw the controller against the wall without
it breaking." In regular games of this genre, I
usually have to start out and work at upgrading
the weapons before I get the chance to do something
really cool. In GoW, you begin with the ability to
rip a man in half and grab his buddy to use as a
weapon. Killing enemies was the best part of the
game. I would spend most of my time trying to figure
out when to knock a guy into the air just so I could
see Kratos break his back. The fixed camera was a
weird thing to adjust to, but I think I'm just
spoiled by the ability to turn the camera when I
want. I like how it was fixed, it was like back in
the day when the camera didn't move at all. The
graphics were amazing to say the least. You could
see sweat on bodies and pores in the skin. I am
still flabergasted at the Athena statue. It moved
and looked like a human should, but still retained
the image that it was a statue. I wish all games
looked this good, but I don't know if the PS2 could
handle it. I really liked this game and if you
haven't played it you should definitely check it out.
